Remember the Manitowoc Ice Machine SD-0302A sighting this blogger had over two and a half months ago?  We certainly do!  We won’t get into the thrill of the sighting all over again; after all, seminal as the event might have been, that was a while back, and while we’re huge Manitowoc ice machines fans, we’re not insane.  Really!

Nevertheless, we will say that the Manitowoc Ice Machine SD-0302A is a top-notch product, and worth every pixel of digital ink we spill about it and then some.  Why?  Oh, let us count the ways:

1) First, it’s a Manitowoc product.  Knowing this, you know that this product is going to be an industry leader for whatever class of ice machine it is.  And you know what?  You’re right!  The SD-0302A was voted Best in Class by Food Service Equipment Supplies Magazine, which is no small shakes.  Not enough accolades for your accolade-demanding self?  Fair enough!  We’ve also designated the product an Editor’s Choice, which means that we folks here at Short Order are particularly proud of this piece of restaurant equipment.

2) You get quite a bang for your buck with the Manitowoc SD-0302A.  It produces a solid 325 lbs (or 147 kg) of ice in a 24-hour period.  This prodigious production is not all you get with this ice machine, however.  You also get excellent sanitation considerations, with patented cleaning and sanitization technology standard, including select components made with AlphaSan anti-microbial. What’s more, this Manitowoc product is thoughtfully designed.  The water distribution tube is removable without the use of any tools, for example.  It’s touches like that that let you know you’ve bought an excellent product.

3) The warranty is an excellent one, and is truly tough to beat.  In addition to 5-year parts-and-labor coverage on the ice machine evaporator, there is also a 5-year parts and 3-year labor coverage on the compressor and a 3-year parts-and-labor coverage for the rest of the machine.
